West 4 Tattoo // New York, New York

This past Thursday my family and I headed into the city for a very special day…my first tattoos! My entire life, I never really envisioned myself with ink. Both of my parents have lots of tattoos and I have always thought they were cool but never necessarily for me. Recently my sister got tattooed and while she was looking for ideas she introduced me West 4 Tattoo’s Instagram page. West 4 specializes in fine line tattoo’s and I had never seen anything like them before. They were so delicate, dainty, feminine, and beautiful. As I continued to scroll through this shop’s work my mind was completely altered. I decided right then that I HAD TO get fine line tattoos! Coincidentally, my friend Shelby went to West 4 a few days after I decided that I wanted to get a tattoo there! Her work was done by tattoo artist JK Kim and she had her aunt’s signature done. The line work and quality was impeccable. I contacted JK that day after I decided what I wanted to get tattooed. I then made my appointment for flowers on my arm and a heart on the back of my neck!

I can’t recommend West 4 Tattoo enough. The shop is super cool and clean, the front desk staff is so friendly and helpful, and the artists are so nice and unbelievably talented! JK was so sweet and I seriously cannot stop staring at my work. It is truly a piece of art. I am so thankful for such a great experience and look forward to getting some more ink done in the future! I am going to be including all of this shop’s information in case you are looking to get tatted! West 4 has tattooed lots of celebrities including Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin, and Justin Bieber to name a few so come financially equipped and book your appointments as soon as possible…the books fill up super quickly! If you have any questions definitely leave a comment below and I will do my best to answer them!

But First, Brunch // West Village NYC Eats

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel to lots of amazing places at such a young age. This is something I will never ever take for granted. No matter how far and wide I may have traveled, I have to say that the greatest place I have ever been is New York City. My friend Shelby described it best in a tweet of her’s, “there’s something about pulling into Manhattan that gives an overwhelming sense of opportunity, every time”. I experience the similar sensation every single time I get off the train at Penn Station. I walk up the stairs from the station into the city and am greeted by the hustle and bustle of the people, the bright yellow taxis, the beeping of horns and most importantly NYC’s powerful/magical energy. Being in New York makes makes me feel like the world is mine to conquer, that anything can happen, that love and magic exist, that I can be whoever I want to be, that dreams come true…. I never feel more alive than when I’m in this city. In my previous post I wrote solely about my time in the tattoo shop, but today I am giving you guys a look at my day spent in the West Village!

Brunch is everything, especially in NYC! My family and I celebrated that fact by heading over to The Butcher’s Daughter in their West Village location for an amazing mid-morning feast. This restaurant is any photographer’s dream. The food not only looks incredible and tastes incredible but the interior design is artsy and filled with plants! They serve a 100% vegetarian and mostly vegan fare and it is seriously to die for! My dad is the biggest meat eater out there and he was even raving about how delicious his vegan rueben sandwich was! I had ” Butcher’s Grilled Cheese” which featured sourdough bread, vegan cheese, avocado, heirloom tomato, adzuki bacon, and wilted basil and it is the best sandwich I have ever eaten in my life. I can’t recommend this place enough! The energy of this place is chill and inviting and you will want to spend the entire day here just talking, sipping on mimosas and enjoying life! After we finished up brunch we walked a bit around the village. I was in full daydream mode looking at all of the colorful brownstones and imagining myself living in one of them…I’ll get there one day; I’ll make sure of it!

What are your favorite NYC brunch spots? I’m always looking for new spots to try…right now by CHLOE and Sweets by CHLOE are high on my list! Please leave recommendations below in the comments if you have any!

Floral Print Maxi Dress

This spring, the fashion world is in full bloom. Floral print is one of the biggest trends of the season and it is quickly dominating my heart and my wardrobe! While shopping in a local boutique recently, this cream, off the shoulder maxi with red floral print instantly caught my eye. I knew that I had to have this darling number! The delicate red flowers printed on the soft cream fabric combined with the off the shoulder neckline give off a seriously sweet and romantic vibe. I styled the dress with my silver tiffany&co charm bracelet and some strappy leather wedges to add some height. I love how the shoes helped to showcase the slit detail in my dress. I played into the romantic vibes of the dress by doing loose curls and a bold red lip.

I can’t wait to wear more floral pieces this season! Get ready for lots of posts coming up; there are a lot of exciting things on the horizon for me! I can’t wait to share everything with you! What floral prints have you been obsessing over this season? Let me know in the comments below!

Afternoon Tea

Being a lover of all things fancy and ladylike, I have always dreamed of attending an authentic high tea. The fascination began when I first watched Beauty and the Beast. I was enthralled by every detail of the Be Our Guest tea party from the beautiful china tea cups, to the intricately crafted teapots, all the way down to the adorable pastries that were mounted high on the tiered display. Recently my younger sister, Rhegan had expressed an interest in having a proper tea party for her birthday celebration. Upon the mention, I shrieked with excitement because this was something I had been wanting to do for so long. Luckily, we were able to book reservations and I immediately put a countdown on my phone for the party…that’s when you know I’m excited about something!

The day finally came and we couldn’t have sat in a more perfect section…we were going to be having tea in the Paris room! The walls were showered in French themed paintings and was decorated with Ladurèe macaron boxes and maps of the city. It was breathtaking. As soon as we arrived at the table, a menu with hundreds of teas were placed in front of us. It was completely overwhelming because every tea sounded so delicious! I adore floral flavors and opted for a spiced tea with rose and lavender notes. At the tearoom each person orders their own tea and is given their own individual tea pots.

My overall experience from the ambience, to the tea, to the food was incredible. Being able to get all dressed up and having a lovely, ladylike lunch with the family was an amazing way to celebrate my sister’s special day! I’ll cherish this high tea for years to come and am already planning my next trip back!

Have you ever been to high tea? Let me know in the comments below and leave your recommendations! If you are specifically interested in going to the tearoom mentioned above, feel free to leave questions below and I will happily answer them!

Spring Style Preview // The Classic Trench Coat

With the unseasonably warm weather that graced us last Monday, my family and I felt it was totally necessary to spend as much time as we possibly could outdoors! We took a trip down to the shore to bask in warm sun, watch the waves crash, and grab a bite to eat. The beach has always been one of my favorite places even if the weather was still not quite warm enough to swim! The weather was however warm enough to debut one of my favorite spring trends…the classic trench coat! I’ve wanted to purchase a trench coat for years but somehow always managed to skip the buy until a few weeks ago. I was scrolling through instagram when I saw that Old Navy posted how to style the classic trench a variety of ways. After watching that quick insta vid I knew I had to have it. I pulled out my card and ordered the coat right away. When it arrived, it was as perfect as I imagined it would be. The structure gave me some serious Burberry vibes and I couldn’t wait to style it with oversized black sunnies. I kept my look pretty casual for everyday spring wear and paired the trench with dark wash denim and a blush handbag.

After spending time on the beach summer can’t come quick enough! How did you enjoy the warm weather? Let me know in the comments below!

Woman Up / Fashion x Feminism

Happy 2017 readers! A month hasn’t even passed and yet this year has already been filled with events that will be remembered for a lifetime. I’m writing this post to reflect on how completely awe-inspiring the Women’s Marches that took place today were to me. Not only did these marches take place all over cities across the United States but the entire WORLD. I couldn’t be more proud to not only be a woman but to experience this historical and powerful day.

Feminism and women’s rights ignite a passionate fire inside my soul that demands action. Seeing millions of people go out into the universe and protest with all of their hearts and minds to bring awareness and power to issues women face everyday is absolutely incredible. When I stop and truly think about the power that words have, it quite honestly scares me. Words have the power to lift someone up, tear someone down, or completely alter someone’s world. Today, when reading the signs on social media that people all over the world created, I can confidently say that those profound statements completely changed my world. Words were put to their best use, declaring truths that empower and serve. To say I was emotional today would be a total understatement. I was given the opportunity to get a glimpse into my sister’s souls all over the world. Today, January 21 2017 was a day I experienced sisterhood like never before… and the craziest part is that I got to experience this through my cell phone…now this is what social media was created for! Imagine if we always put social media to use like this, spreading important messages and shedding light on changes and movements that need to be made.

I have found that mixing my passion for fashion and feminism is the best way to express how I feel about this movement. I have loved fashion since I was a little girl and my clothing has always been THE way I express myself. I still remember the first magazine that taught me that it was OKAY to express myself through my clothing. That magazine was (and still is) Teen Vogue. I truly believe that Teen Vogue has shaped me into being the strong, independent, fearless woman I am today. From learning that it was okay to dress however I wanted, to Teen Vogue’s recent articles regarding important social and political issues, this magazine has made me a well-rounded #girlboss. I can’t thank the writers and editors and celebrity features enough for making such an impact on my life. In particular, thank you to Elaine Welteroth for shaping me into a strong woman and feminist. I recently just ordered a heather gray sweatshirt with the word “feminist” written across it to start to express my views about women’s rights. I can’t wait to build my feminist clothing collection because the more I wear, the more opportunity I have to spread a message and possibly alter someone’s thoughts or best yet, world.

So woman up! The future is female…the future is ours! As Digital Editorial Director of Teen Vogue, Phillip Picardi tweeted “Every time I get concerned today, I just remind myself that teenage girls are going to save the whole damn world”.

P.S. I would totally love to see your pictures from today’s movement if you were actively involved in a march!  If you experienced today via internet like me, I would love to know what signs and precious moments inspired YOU! Lady in Leopard

Let me preface this post by saying that I am completely and utterly obsessed with buying coats! Something about them just tugs at my heartstrings. A coat alone can completely transform not only your look, but the way you feel. Often times, throwing on a coat is what makes me feel confident and put together. Every season I look forward to adding a new piece to my outerwear collection. I always look for a coat that has just the right amount of trendiness balanced out with a timeless silhouette and material that is made to last. While shopping a few weekends back I spotted this leopard topper and it was love at first sight! I ran to the rack, pulled my size, and threw it on right away! It was perfect…so ladylike and femme. I bought the coat immediately and can’t wait to wear it throughout the season.

Black Friday Do’s and Don’ts

img_3658

Happy Thanksgiving, readers! Black Friday is just a few hours away and I’ve created a short guide of Do’s and Don’ts that will ensure a successful Black Friday shopping experience. Get a notepad ready…you’re gonna want to take notes for this!

Do: Create a Game Plan

With all of the chaos already involved in Black Friday, the last thing you want is the added overwhelmingness of not knowing where to shop first or who you’re shopping for first. Create a list split vertically down the middle into two columns. In the first column write the names of the people who you are buying for. In the second column write down what store you plan on shopping in for that person. This will help you to stay organized, alleviate stress, and keep you on track!

Don’t: Give into the Checkout line Merchandise

Whenever I go shopping, I always tend to throw something into my cart from the checkout line merchandise. Sephora gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. with the cute, mini versions of primers, lipsticks, and roller balls. This Black Friday, refrain from the temptation because all of these mini’s ADD UP FAST! Trust me, you will be thankful when you end up saving yourself some serious cash.

Do: Make a Budget

Okay, I’m not talking down to exact dollars and cents but create a ballpark number that you know you should stay around and that you can actually afford. After shopping for each person, subtract the cost from your budget to give yourself an idea of how much you can spend on the rest of people on your Christmas shopping list. Too often, we get caught up in all of the deals and don’t realize that we are spending WAY more than we initially thought. This is the simplest way to avoid financial stress during the holiday season.

Don’t: Spend all of your money during Black Friday

I definitely get caught up in the Black Friday hype, but remember…Cyber Monday is just a couple of days after! Make sure you still have some money to spend on all of the online deals. Most of the time, a lot of stores have even better offers online! When you see that handbag you’ve been dying to score for your mom with a crazy Cyber Monday deal attached, you’ll be happy that you didn’t blow through all of your money!

Do: Your Homework!

Before hitting the mall, do a little research online or in your inbox to see what stores are offering the best deals. Nothing is worse that getting home after an exhausting day of shopping and seeing that one of the stores in your mall is having an insane deal. Not a lot of people take this step, but if you do, it will surely pay off and save you a trip back to the mobbed mall.

Don’t: Forget to put thought into each persons gift

Just because the price tag is good, doesn’t mean that the gift is a good fit for the person on your shopping list. Take the extra step to really think about what that person would like to receive on Christmas. It will seriously make all of the difference. Nothing will beat seeing that person’s face light up when they receive something truly thoughtful.

What stores are you most excited about hitting up this Black Friday? What time do you begin shopping? Let me know in the comments below! Before I end, I would just like to take some time to express how thankful I am for all of my loyal readers and followers. Without your constant love and support, lexieslifexo wouldn’t be what it is today! Thank you all so much for coming on this journey with me…I’m very excited for what’s to come! Have a blessed day!

West Village // NYC

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

My birthday is something I look forward to celebrating every year; what’s better than a day all about you!? My mom and dad are seriously the best at making me feel so special on my birthday. This year I wanted to go to the West Village to celebrate my 18th and that’s exactly what we did!

We started our day off by taking an early morning train into the city. As soon as we reached Penn Station and started walking toward the West Village, we ran into a celebrity! Click here to find out who I got to meet! It has always been one of my dreams to run into someone famous on the streets of NYC and the fact that it happened on my birthday was the most perfect start to the day!

After walking around 20 blocks we finally reached the West Village, one of my favorite neighborhood’s in the city! It is filled with lots of artsy restaurants, fantastic shopping, and the most beautiful homes. We decided to stop at The Butcher’s Daughter for my birthday breakfast! The menu is vegan/vegetarian based and has the most amazing food and the best service.

After a delicious meal we headed to the High Line. This was the first time I have ever been and I loved it so much! The views were incredible and there was an abundance of cool artists and vendors throughout the park.

As soon as the park ended, we made our way back to the Village to check out the gorgeous homes. I couldn’t help but pretend I was Carrie Bradshaw walking through the streets of the city…hopefully one of these homes will be mine someday!

All of that walking around sure did conjure up an appetite. We stopped by Patisserie Cloud for pastries and coffees…it definitely hit the spot and satisfied my sweet tooth!

Reenergized from all of the sugar, we took a stroll over to Washington Square Park. We couldn’t have had more perfect weather. The sun was shining all day and it was just the right temperature, around 53 degrees! It was so much fun getting to hang out in the park and people watch!

I couldn’t have dreamed of having a more amazing birthday! I’m so excited to see what this year has in store for me. Thank you all so much for coming on this journey with me! I appreciate you all more than you can ever imagine.
