Handkerchief Hem Midi Dress

Tis the season for outdoor activities, festivals, and all things fun! This past weekend I attended Princeton, New Jersey’s Communiversity Arts Festival which is a fair filled with music, food, shopping, and fun! The streets are lined with local restaurant booths selling amazing food, shops selling their best jewelry and clothing, choreographed group dances performing all along the road, and there is even a stand filled with puppies that you can adopt…I could spend hours there just petting the cuties! When I attend outdoor events such as these, I always make sure I pick out an outfit that is fashionable but most importantly comfortable for me to walk around in all day. The last thing you want is to be roaming around and thinking about how much your feet hurt or how you wish you had picked out a different outfit. My go to ootd for when I know I’m going to be walking around is a dress and a comfortable pair of sandals. For specifics on my outfit details just keep reading!

This Spring I have been obsessing over the handkerchief hem trend. I adore the movement that it gives dresses and skirts. I found this gorgeous number at Flutter Boutique in Pennington, New Jersey and I am head over heels for it. The delicate spaghetti straps, v-neck and cool splatter pattern pair perfectly with the trendiness of the hemline. Lately, I have been so open to trying new dress silhouettes and I love how this dress just hangs effortlessly and beautifully on my body. Because this dress is so breezy and has a looser fit, it was so comfortable to walk around in all day! As far as shoes go, I love these two toned sandals that I purchased from Target…they are like walking on air. Don’t forget to protect your eyes from the sun with a killer pair of shades! I am wearing these cat eye sunnies with gold hardware from Urban Outfitters are so unique and gorgeous. I am definitely going to be getting a lot of use out of these this Spring and Summer.

The best part of any outdoor festival or fair is of course the food! I got Mango and Raspberry sorbet with a scoop of lemon mascarpone ice cream and it was heavenly. If you ever get the opportunity to visit Princeton, I recommend stopping by The Bent Spoon. They have the most amazing ice cream and sorbet’s all made from fresh and local ingredients. I can honestly say that it is the best ice cream/sorbet I have ever had! If there is a line it is totally worth waiting! I promise you won’t regret it!

Walking along the streets and through Princeton University’s campus, I couldn’t help but snap photos of the gorgeous architecture and the bright and vibrant flowers. Spring is such a happy time and I love watching everything come into bloom. The rich red tulips were breathtaking and the sweet yellow daffodils add a pop of happiness and color everywhere they are planted. I also can’t keep my eyes off of the lush green trees and the trees with the purple flowers lining the branches. They are so pretty!

I hope you guys enjoyed reading about my day at Communiversity and my fave comfortable/fashionable Spring trends for when you’re spending time outside!
