Pretty in Pink
Add muted tones to your closet this fall starting with the color of the season, dusty rose. When trend forecasting in early August for the upcoming season, I saw this shade of pink all over social media and was immediately obsessed.
You can easily incorporate this shade of pink into your closet by wearing a dusty rose velvet choker, carrying a structured crossbody bag in this hue of pink, or find an oversized coat in this color.
Bold Lips and Bare Eyes
Channel your inner Parisian and sport this French-inspired makeup look this season. A colorful pout and a natural looking face is not only an easy look to execute in the morning, but will have you looking “high fashion” in seconds.
This makeup trend has been shown all over New York Fashion Week in shows such as Dior, Max Mara, Louis Vuitton, and Zac Posen. Getting runway ready has never been easier. Check out the MAC counter at your local mall for a wide variety of dark lipsticks on sale for $17.00 each.
Light up the room with a soft glimmer just above your cheekbones to accentuate the high points of your face. Highlighter will give your face a healthy glow, instantaneously making your skin look more healthy and hydrated.
With amazing highlighters being sold in both drugstore and high end makeup shops, you can follow this trend no matter what your budget is.
My favorite drugstore highlighter is the L’oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator for $12.99 available at your local CVS or Target. My favorite high-end highlighter is the famous Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder in either Champagne Pop or Opal for $38.00.
Pointed toe shoes are taking fancy feet to new heights. From lace up flats, to loafers, to boots, fall footwear is embracing the pointed toe trend. The more dramatic the point, the better and more fashionable the shoe.
I recently picked up a couple of new pairs of shoes, including booties and flats, all adorning pointed toes. Macy’s is your one stop shop for all shoes pointed. I can’t wait to wear these trendy little kicks all season long.
They say the bigger the better, and fall is embracing this statement now more than ever. Cozy coats, huge sweaters, and bulky jackets in materials including leather and denim are all the rage. Braving the cool temps in style has never been easier with these trends on deck.
Get an amazing oversized denim jacket at your local vintage or consignment shop for a price you will definitely not regret spending.
Flutter sleeves, bell sleeves, and puffy peasant sleeves, just to name a few, are making splash on the shirt scene this season. I love how dramatic sleeves can add so much personality and pizzaz to an outfit. My favorite statement sleeve tops are from TopShop that are awesome quality and look super unique that you can purchase for around $50.
Pair a top that has statement sleeves with distressed boyfriend jeans and a pointed toe shoe. This is the perfect outfit for the fall when you’re going out with your friends, or want to dress up a bit for school.
The 90s are back and better than ever with an adorable, and best yet affordable, trend. Starting off with the classic tattoo choker last year, the popularity of these necklaces has only grown.
Now available in a multitude of materials including velvet, leather, suede, lace, and ribbon, this trend certainly adds a little something special to your look. Some of the most beautiful chokers on the market can be found at Forever 21 with prices ranging from $3.90-$8.90.
Calling all Upper East Siders…
This next trend is Blair Waldorf approved … can you guess what it is? Headbands are crushing the hair world and are begging to add a little something special to your everyday hairstyle.
Add a headband to a soft messy braid, a fishtail to dress up a casual look, or add a gold headband to loose curls for a fancier look. Purchase a gorgeous headband for a reasonable price on Etsy. No matter the occasion, a headband is always a good piece to accessorize with.
Say goodbye to cotton and say hello to suede and velvet, your new go-to fall fabrics. Suede is a soft and luxurious material that is sure to step up your style game. From jackets, to lace up flats, to over the knee boots, to button up skirts all in suede material, fall wardrobe’s are not complete without these essentials.
In addition to suede, I am seriously crushing on velvet this season. For the upcoming holidays, skip your typical garb and try out a black or rich red velvet dress. Find the perfect velvet number at Flutter Boutique in Pennington, NJ for around $60-$70.
It seems as if denim has been on trend for years and years, but 2016 is taking the classic jean to a whole new level. Big holes, small rips, uneven hems, thick cuffs, and colorful patchwork are all new trends on the jean scene. The more distressed and destroyed the denim the better.
